About Me

Hazel Meadows

I began piecing quilts at the age of ten; a hobby taught to me by my maternal grandmother and other family members born in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

Quilts during the early years were pieced together with a sewing needle, fabric, thread and a thimble. A thimble was worn as a protective shield on the finger or thumb.

I really didn't like the idea of the sewing needle and thimble to piece quilts. After a few years, I began sewing quilt blocks on my grandmothers antique Singer sewing machine. This type of sewing machine was called a peddle sewing machine, which is controlled by pressing a peddle to sew slow of fast. At the age of eighteen, I purchased my own modern Singer sewing machine for mending, making clothes and quilts.

Quilt making became popular in the late 1800's and 1900's; throughout the years quilting was a common way American women express their creativity. Quilt making is still very popular today with a large selection of fabric and quilt patterns sold at craft stores and fabric centers.

For many years, Ive been known as the "Quilt Lady". My favorite pattern designs include holidays, flowers, stars and patriotism. I enjoy expressing my creativity through quilts also very creative in color coordination of quilts. All quilts are made of 100% cotton fabric.

Bed-sized quilts, quilted wall hangings and lap quilts will be posted on my website for auctioning on a regular basis.
